Welcome to the Department of Law and our website!
With its vibrant academic community, a talented set of students from around the globe and its unique campus in and around a major baroque palace, the Department of Law offers an extraordinary environment in which to study law. May these pages provide a first glimpse at what we have to offer.
The University of Mannheim is recognized as one of the leading academic institutions in Germany and Europe. Within this context, the law school enjoys a pivotal role in the research of business law in national, European and international contexts. The 19 chairholders, leading practicing lawyers, and distinguished visiting academics from abroad would love to share their experience with you in the classroom. Providing a challenging and rewarding intellectual exchange on the key problems of today and tomorrow is our mission.
There is a large and ever increasing range of courses you can chose from. Our core programme on law in German is supplemented by a substantial range of courses taught in English. They are centered in Mannheim’s Master of Comparative Business Law, a joint degree with the University of Adelaide.
The faculty and its students are superbly supported by excellent and highly motivated staff and extensive resources, including the library of the Department of Law. It houses a large collection of legal materials on- and off-line. The comprehensive support provided to international students, allows incoming students to settle down quickly and have a smooth start to their studies here. You will be very welcome in the sun-blessed Palatinate!
